JUSTINE ABIGAIL YU

Founder & Editor

Justine Abigail Yu is a fierce advocate for diversity and representation in Canada’s arts and literature scene. Her mission is to stir the conscience and spur social change. In a parallel life, she is also a marketing and communications strategist for the social impact space.

She and the publication have been featured on national and local media outlets including CTV National News, CBC Metro Morning, CBC Ontario Morning, and CityTV’s Breakfast Television.

JOSH LAYTON

Creative Director

Josh Layton specializes in design solutions that integrate visual storytelling to amplify humanity and impact. He works alongside various community initiatives in the LGBT community and is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Loop: Design For Social Good, a social impact design studio in Toronto. Throughout his career, Josh has found joy connecting with people and organizations across Canada, East Africa, and Mexico.

JOCELYN YU

Publisher

A seasoned software implementation consultant for decades, Jocelyn Yu has been assisting big companies in implementing their systems.  

She has no previous publishing experience but after reading a handful of submissions for Living Hyphen’s inaugural issue, she jumped at the chance to give life to this publication and a platform for its diverse voices. She considers herself lucky for living the best of both worlds of consulting and publishing.

TRISHA GREGORIO

Podcast Producer, Scriptwriter, Co-Host

Trisha Gregorio is an avid content creator with years of experience working with a variety of formats from fiction to nonfiction to theatre to audio. Always eager to find new areas to expand her storytelling into, what has remained unwavering throughout is her passion to tell heartfelt stories in equally heartfelt ways. She believes that community-building is where it all begins, and her aim is to work towards making space for those whose love she can help amplify and give back.

KATHLEEN UBIAS

Design Associate

Kathleen is an emerging designer that is curious and enthusiastic about finding purposeful design solutions. Aiming to create compelling narratives, she believes that visual storytelling is a powerful tool in making meaningful connections with others. With a passion for people and culture, she believes that good design is for everyone and aims to create a positive impact.

LEGEND OCAMPO

Digital Coordinator

Legend Ocampo is a Psychology and Social Development student at University of Waterloo who is passionate about telling stories through film and photography. In addition to his role at Living Hyphen, he is also currently serving as Black Music Canada’s videography intern.

He is interested in exploring issues at the intersection of mental health and social justice.

Vivian Wu

Design Intern

Vivian is an illustrator studying at the Ontario College of Art & Design University. 

She works primarily on digital illustrations, specializing in flat style while also exploring diverse styles. She loves to create images and enjoys conceptualizing children's picture books.

María Piñeros Murillo

Design Associate

Artistry has always been woven into the fabric of Maria. At 15, when her family moved to Canada from Colombia, her journey of self-discovery began one that solidified her place as an artist that could fluidly move back and forth between two worlds.

That ability to see the world through two cultural lenses, allowed her to think more critically about the capacity that social design has as a transformative tool to educate, empower, and inspire people.

Alyson Lee

Design Intern

Alyson is an illustrator who enjoys working with both digital and traditional media. An interest in showcasing the real and honest stories of everyday people has drawn Alyson to projects that work to elevate these stories. She understands the power of illustrations and their ability to convey deep and beautiful narratives and aims to express all those underlying emotions through her artwork.
