STORYTELLING GATHERINGS

At Living Hyphen, we aim to cultivate a space where amateur and emerging writers and artists can share their stories in an open, honest, and kind space. We often partner with community hubs, local cafes, and independent bookshops to host gatherings that create an inviting and intimate space for courageous and tender storytelling. As with everything that we do at Living Hyphen, our storytelling gatherings aim to reshape the mainstream and turn up the volume on voices that often go unheard.

Over the years, we’ve hosted twenty gatherings with over a thousand guests on a variety of themes that speak to the nuanced and complex experiences of hyphenated Canadians. We invite you to scroll below and explore our gatherings.

EXPLORE OUR GATHERINGS

Since our magazine launch in 2018, we’ve invited artists and writers from across Turtle Island to share their stories with us. Our various stages have been graced with everything from stand-up comedy to spoken word, from song and dance to drag, from live calligraphy to pottery throwing. We are in awe by the range and depth of talent in our community.
