What does it mean to resist – not just in moments of urgency, but as a sustained practice, as sacred ritual? Ritualizing Resistance is a generative and embodied playshop that invites storytellers to explore resistance as something we return to, tend to, and transform through intentional acts.
We are living in a time when our world is being thrown into climate chaos, when innocent people continue to be violently displaced from their homelands, when corrupt regimes with corporate interests disregard the health and wellbeing of their citizens, when the systems we have built are ravaging the water, the air, the land, the natural world around us. It is more critical than ever for us to speak up and share our stories and our experiences. Our words and our stories have the power to heal relationships, to reinforce our collective memory, to resist systems of oppression, to create change.
Through creative writing, arts-based prompts, and critically curious conversations, we will speak truth to power while envisioning equitable and just futures for all. This is a space for writers of all levels, especially those seeking to connect their creative practice to social change, healing, and community. We aim to co-create a soft landing for those critically considering their role in social movements.
No writing or activism experience is necessary – only an open heart and an open mind with a readiness to give and receive vulnerability.
